Concerns About Point Lookout

Hello,
My family owns a home on Islesboro and we were wondering if there are
any concerns in Northport about the MBNA Point Lookout retreat that
was purchased by a retirement communities development company.  Do you
know anything about this?  Just curious.
Thanks,
Mark

Close the Grange

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

I RECENTLY ATTENDED A SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE AT THE NORTHPORT GRANGE HALL, ROUTE 1 NORTHPORT ME. AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THE CONDITIONS OF THE BUILDING. NO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, NO FIRE ESCAPE, BAD WIRING, HORRIBLE TOILETS, NO BACK UP SECURITY LIGHTS, NO PHONE! THE LIST GOES ON AND ON! I EVEN WITNESSED A PERSON COLLAPSE ON THE DANCE FLOOR AND WONDERED....HOW WOULD YOU GET HIM OUT OF THE BUILDING. THE OLD GRANGE IS A DEATHTRAP AND HOW THE FIRE DEPT. LETS THE CODES SLIP BY IS BEYOND BELIEF.  SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET HURT THERE.  THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ALL ''JURY'' RIGGED AND SOMEDAY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET HURT IN THAT ''FIRETRAP''. THE PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED IMMEDIATELY!

Fall 2010 (Update!  The Northport Grange Hall has had some work done.  I'm not sure about all the issues stated above, but there has been a new set of stairs from the second floor built.)

Fire Safety

This site doesn't cover everything about fire safety, but it does have a lot of good tips about staying safe.  You may want to link to it as a resource for others.  Everybody needs to know this kind of information.
